Exploring the corners of South Korea

During my first year in Korea, I was able to visit Daejeon and Busan. This year I wanted to see more of the Kimchi Nation. Well, the month of May was devoted to exploring other areas. Don't stop me now.
It has been a blast exploring all these places with Kristen ( and apparently we need to leave Seoul to be able to sleep!).

Jeju trip take 2- Mt. Halla:
For Chuseok last year, the MELK crew headed to Jeju. We did a lot of exploring but weren't able to climb the highest mountain (which is also a shield volcano) in SoKo because of a huge storm. We (M and K. L waz on a work trip in Busan. Missed ya, mate) decided to try again so we flew out there over a 3-day weekend. It was a biatch to hike because it was raining and then when we finally made it to the top, it was foggy! We made it, though! 6398 feet: DONE!

The switch: We switched roles

Rain on Mt. Halla--but we still conquered her!

Daegu- The third largest city in Korea:
Daegu was on my to-see-list and I had no reason why I wanted to go but I had to! Thanks to the adventurous chingu Kristen because she joined on this random no-reason trip. We left right after work during the second weekend in May and headed to Seoul Station to catch the KTX. Once we got to Daegu, we walked around, got dinner and then headed back to my 4th hostel (What?! Who am I?). Then we got up, were super tourists for a few hours and headed back to Seoul.

Hostel--again!

Pretty church

Yeosu-World Expo:
The third weekend in May, Kristen and I headed down to Yeosu for the world expo. The theme was "The living ocean and Coast." Various countries were represented at the expo.

Seoraksan- 3 day weekend for Buddha's Birthday:
K and I joined another Adventure Korea trip and headed to Sokcho and Mt. Seorak during our long weekend at the end of May. We climbed Seorak ( amazing views), went ziplining over the east sea and relaxed.

About to zipline!
